I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: The world of print has come a long way over the years. Print is crossing into so many different industries and making the most unthinkable things a reality.

Check out these 5 breakthroughs in print technology — They’re truly remarkable!

1. A Step Toward Curing Blindness: Scientists Inkjet-Print Eye Cells

According to the Huffington Post, researchers have succeeded in printing adult eye cells for the first time using an inkjet printer. The demonstration is a step toward producing tissue implants that could cure some types of blindness.

2. Baby Heart Patient Saved by 3D Printing

According to the 3D Printing Industry, Kosair Children’s Hospital officials used 3D printing to support an infant pediatric heart patient for the first time. Doctors operating on a 14-month-old with heart defects studied a three-dimensional replica of the child’s heart to aid successful surgery outcomes.

3. 3D Printer Can Build a House in 24 Hours

According to Business Insider, a University of Southern California professor, Behrokh Khoshnevis, has built a colossal 3D printer that can build a house in 24 hours. The technology, known as Contour Crafting, could completely revolutionize the construction industry as we know it.

4.  Hershey’s to Make 3D Chocolate Printer

According to CNN, 3D Systems announced a deal with Hershey’s to collaborate on developing a 3D printer that makes chocolate and other edible products.

Note: Ford has already made the first 3D-printed car. . . out of chocolate!

5. 3D Printed Car Is as Strong as Steel, Half the Weight, and Nearing Production

According to Wired, Jim Kor’s creation, Urbee 2, could revolutionize parts manufacturing while creating a cottage industry of small-batch automakers intent on challenging the status quo. Urbee’s approach to maximum miles per gallon starts with lightweight construction — something that 3D printing is particularly well suited for.
